Presentation Evening for class of 2017
Whitstone School invited the class of 2017 back for one final evening to celebrate their achievements and remember their time at school.
The evening began with an address from the Headteacher, Ms Rennard, who spoke to the students and parents about kindness, respect and tolerance. In reference to the year group, she said that the future of our nation was in safe hands.
The special guest speaker for the evening was Abi Carter, a forensic archaeologist who runs a successful private forensics company. Abi spoke in depth about the work she carried out investigating the genocide in Srebrenica and how her evidence helped to secure the conviction of Ratko Mladic. Abi’s speech was inspiring and demonstrated how hard work and determination can help you to achieve great things.
The class of 2017 graduated in style, each coming up to collect their certificates before the special awards section of the evening took place. Awards were given for exceptional achievement or effort across the curriculum subjects and special prizes were presented to Verity Bolton for ‘Academic Excellence’ and Danielle Pidgeon for showing ‘Exceptional Endeavour’.
The evening concluded with a speech from Mrs Ackroyd and Mr Law who took the year group on a trip down memory lane, examining some of the highlights of the students’ time at school.
Congratulations to the class of 2017
