Articulacy Project Hailed a Success
Earlier this year a group of Year 9 students took part in a project aimed at improving their articulacy.
Throughout the week-long course the students learned techniques and skills for speaking confidently and articulately.
They each worked towards delivering a self-researched 4 minute presentation to the group, using visual aids but without the help of notes. Students also recited a poem from memory, read an extract from a work of fiction and took part in a debate.
The group were then assessed by an ‘English Speaking Board’ examiner and were individually graded for their performances. Everyone achieved at least a Merit, with many gaining a Distinction.
Emma said, “It was a fun and useful week; it has helped me with my public speaking and presentation skills. I now feel more confident.”
