Whitstone Welcomes Dorothy House
Whitstone School had a very special visit from John Davies, the CEO of Dorothy House, and his springer spaniel, Myrtle.
John had been taking part in his ‘One man and his dog’ challenge to raise money for Dorothy House Hospice. Over a two week period John and his dog walked 180 miles across Somerset, visiting all the major towns with connections to the charity.
Dorothy House provides end of life care for terminally ill people and works with patients and their families to ensure that the last few months of life are dignified and comfortable.
Whitstone School’s annual ‘Race for Life’ took place the week before John’s visit and the students raised an incredible £1704 through their donations. Students paid £2 each to complete either a 2km or 5km course. Many students and their families gave more and the money was presented to Dorothy House when John visited.
