Anti-Bullying

Whitstone school is truly a community school. Whilst we serve our local community we are also proud of the community feel that exists within the school itself.

We strive to make sure that every student feels happy, safe and secure to go about the business of learning and developing as an individual.

Bullying and harassing behaviour is not accepted and students should feel confident that there a large number of trusted adults they can reach out to if situations with other students make them feel uncomfortable.

Whitstone School’s view is that dealing with bullying should not only start after an incident has occurred and it aims to reduce any occurrences by developing a school ethos that encourages ‘non-bullying/non-harassing’ behaviour and relationships that are based on mutual respect, trust, caring and consideration for others.

Whitstone’s pastoral structure uses a house system to give students a feeling of belonging. House leaders and Aspire leaders (tutors) know students well and will quickly intervene if incidences of bullying occur.

Whilst disapproval of the bullying behaviour is made clear, it is also important that any offenders understand that this does not equate to disapproval of themselves. Whilst sanctions may be applied work is also carried out to help them understand and improve their behaviour.
