Uniform

School uniform at Whitstone School is an important part of how we help our students to feel a part of the school community, and ‘levels the playing field’ for those students who may have less than others.  With less distraction caused by brands and trends, there is more time and energy spent on taking part in lessons, and less chance for students to comment - sometimes unkindly - on what each other are wearing.

The image portrayed by our students when they are out in the community, or on their way to and from school makes a huge impact on how the school is perceived.

For these reasons, we take uniform standards extremely seriously at Whitstone School, and operate a zero tolerance policy.  Our accepted uniform standards are very clear, and parents and students are expected to abide by them:

General uniform rules:

  • Outside coats, hats, scarves are not to be worn inside at any time

  • Hoodies and caps should not be worn on school site

  • Black v-neck jumpers are permitted to be worn under the blazer, cardigans are not

  • The only permitted jewellery is one small stud or sleeper in each ear

  • Facial piercings are not permitted

  • Make up should be minimal

  • Extreme hair styles, including obvious colourings or patterns/tramlines are not allowed

  • Leggings are not acceptable as school trousers

  • Skirts should be pleated – not stretch material or tube skirts
