Physical Health

The PE provision at Whitstone School is first class! Not only do we have a dedicated and knowledgeable team who deliver an inclusive and enjoyable PE curriculum, but we also have excellent facilities, including a full sized sports hall and state of the art fitness gym – both located in our very own Leisure Centre.

The importance of physical health and its links to mental health are promoted through our PHSE lessons, assemblies and Aspire time. Basic nutrition, and the effect of healthy food on the body is taught in our catering, science and PE lessons.

We actively encourage students to ‘get active’ throughout the school day – and particularly encourage them to get outside during break times so that they can return to the classroom refreshed and ready to learn.

We offer Dance as a main subject at Whitstone School, and are extremely proud of how this has developed over recent years. Each year, students of the school perform a public show, showcasing their amazing talent, hard work and physical dexterity and strength this class promotes.

We offer many extracurricular activities at Whitstone School, including a range of sports. These, alongside junior gym at Shepton Mallet Leisure Centre, allow our students to continue developing and caring for their physical health even after the school day is over.
